Q & A with the NK |
|
Q: Is there a real Naughty Kitten?
A: Yes, yes there was! However, he was not a black cat. He was a fluffy, spunky, mischievous tabby manx named Toby. He was incredibly intelligent and one heck of a prankster. I once watched him calculate and time a jump from a table to a rolling office chair so that the chair would roll into the other cat as she walked past it.Nothing was sacred; if it was present, it had to be inspected, altered, discombobulated, toppled over, chewed through...you get the idea.
Q: Are you partial to black cats?
A: I'm partial to all cats!
Q: How do you create each cartoon? How long does each take?
A: Adobe Illustrator, and it can take anywhere from 3-20 hours, depending on how complicated the image is. The first 12 were hand-drawn, but I scanned and digitized them. The very first Naughty Kitten was a pencil drawing in a tiny sketchbook, created at a Starbucks in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
Q: Do you have any other merchandise other than gift cards and prints?
A: Right now, the only options for other types of merchandise is through my shop on Society 6.
Q; Does the kitten ever change poses?
A: No. Not even for customs. I feel this is part of the kitten's "everyman" (or "everycat") identity. Anyone who has owned a cat can related with a majority of the scenarios. In many ways, the silhouette acts as a designation of "your cat here".
Q: Have you ever considered doing a Naughty Puppy?
A: Yes, but it's still under development.
Q: I'd love to have you at my art fair/ cat show/ convention! Can you come?
A: I'd love to, providing I'm available! I am based out of Atlanta and am willing to drive within 200 miles (although I can be bribed).
